R&D Engineer (GUI Autonomous Agents)

About the Role

You will lead the research and development of multimodal AI agents capable of understanding UI layouts, interpreting visual context, and executing actions autonomously in Android environments. This is a core research position at the intersection of Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing, and Reinforcement Learning — translating state-of-the-art research into robust, deployable agents.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and train Large Multimodal Models (LMMs) optimised for GUI grounding, screen parsing, and action prediction
• Build end-to-end pipelines for autonomous agents, covering environment observation, planning, critique, and execution loops
• Stay current with SOTA GUI agent research (e.g. DroidRun, Surfer 2, AutoGLM); reproduce, improve, and adapt methods for specific use cases
• Design rigorous evaluation frameworks to measure agent success rates, reliability, and safety in real-world software environments
• Contribute to the company's IP portfolio and publish findings at top-tier conferences or journals where applicable

Requirements

• PhD or Master's in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, or a related field
• Proven publication record at top-tier AI/ML venues (CVPR, NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, ACL, AAAI, CHI, etc.) — please include a Google Scholar profile or portfolio link with your application
• Strong Python skills with experience in large-scale model training and data processing

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with GUI Agents or Vision-Language Models (VLMs)
• Background in Reinforcement Learning (RLHF, PPO) for agent fine-tuning
• Familiarity with benchmarks such as MiniWob++, OSWorld, or World of Bits
• Contributions to open-source AI projects
• Experience with object detection, OCR, or UI understanding tasks
