Automation Engineer

Key Responsibilities

1. Test Automation Strategy & Framework Development

• Design and develop scalable automation frameworks (Hybrid, Data-Driven, BDD).

• Establish automation best practices and coding standards.

• Identify automation feasibility and ROI for projects.

• Develop reusable automation libraries and utilities.

2. Test Script Development & Execution

• Create automated test scripts for Web, Mobile, API, and Database testing.

• Execute regression, smoke, sanity, and integration test suites.

• Analyze test results and report defects using defect tracking tools.

• Maintain and enhance automation test coverage.

3. Tools & Technology Implementation

• Work with tools such as:

  • Selenium / Cypress / Playwright

  • Appium (Mobile Automation)

  • Rest Assured / Postman (API Testing)

  • JUnit / TestNG / Cucumber (BDD)

• Integrate automation scripts with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps).

4. CI/CD & DevOps Integration

• Implement automation in CI/CD pipelines.

• Ensure automated tests run in staging and production-like environments.

• Work with Docker, Kubernetes for containerized test execution.

• Support shift-left testing approach.

5. Performance & Security Testing (If Required)

• Work with JMeter / LoadRunner for performance testing.

• Support basic security testing practices.

6. Collaboration & Reporting

• Work closely with Developers, DevOps, Product Managers, and Business Analysts.

• Participate in sprint planning and agile ceremonies.

• Provide automation metrics and test reports to stakeholders.

Required Technical Skills

• Strong programming skills in Java / Python / JavaScript

• Hands-on experience with Selenium WebDriver

• Experience in API Automation

• Knowledge of BDD Framework (Cucumber)

• Experience with Git version control

• Good understanding of SDLC & STLC

• Strong debugging and root cause analysis skills

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Cloud testing (AWS/Azure)

• Experience with containerized test environments

• Knowledge of SQL and database validation

• Experience in Agile/Scrum methodology

Educational Qualification

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science / IT / Engineering or related discipline.

Experience Requirements

• 5+ years of overall experience in QA/Automation

• Minimum 4+ years in automation framework development

• Experience handling enterprise-scale applications
