About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated and technically competent Design Engineer to support the design development, coordination, and technical delivery of metro power supply system projects in Singapore.
This role is suitable for candidates with relevant experience in railway, metro, electrical, power, or infrastructure project environments. The successful candidate will support the design of MRT power supply systems in compliance with LTA requirements, Singapore statutory regulations, and operator standards, while working closely with internal teams, consultants, clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure safe, reliable, and constructible design solutions throughout the project lifecycle.
The position offers the opportunity to be involved in major rail infrastructure projects and to gain exposure across design development, technical coordination, safety assurance, construction support, and testing and commissioning activities.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design Management & Technical Support
- Support the Design Manager in managing the design of MRT power supply systems in compliance with project requirements, LTA requirements, Singapore statutory regulations, and MRT operator standards.
- Assist in ensuring that design solutions are safe, reliable, practical, and aligned with project requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare, review, and coordinate technical design deliverables including design basis reports, detailed design reports, system calculations, technical specifications, and engineering drawings.
- Assist in maintaining technical consistency, design quality, and engineering compliance across project deliverables.
2. Design Submissions & Documentation
- Support and manage design submission processes to LTA, relevant authorities, consultants, and internal document control systems.
- Assist in preparing, coordinating, and submitting design documents in a timely manner in accordance with project schedules and submission requirements.
- Follow up on technical comments, review feedback, and design revisions to support timely close out of submission issues.
- Maintain proper records of design submissions, comments, approvals, revisions, and supporting documentation.
3. Interface & Stakeholder Coordination
- Coordinate and support interfaces between power supply systems and other railway disciplines including civil, trackwork, rolling stock, signaling, telecoms, and SCADA systems.
- Liaise with LTA project teams, MRT operators, contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders to resolve technical and interface issues.
- Participate in internal and external design reviews, technical discussions, and coordination meetings.
- Support design change control and configuration management activities in accordance with project governance requirements.
4. Construction, Testing & Commissioning Support
- Provide technical support during construction, including the review of shop drawings, method statements, material submissions, and responses to site technical queries.
- Support the resolution of design related NCRs, site issues, and field engineering matters in accordance with approved design and safety requirements.
- Assist in testing and commissioning activities including factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing, energisation, and trial running to ensure design intent is achieved.
- Work closely with site, testing, and project teams to support smooth implementation and technical close out of design matters.
5. Safety Assurance, Risk Management & Continuous Improvement
- Support design risk assessments, hazard identification workshops, and mitigation planning in accordance with LTA safety assurance frameworks.
- Assist in maintaining design related hazard logs and safety case documentation, ensuring effective control of risks related to traction power, earthing, stray current, and energisation.
- Support value engineering initiatives to optimise cost, energy efficiency, space utilisation, and lifecycle performance while maintaining reliability and availability requirements.
- Capture lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement of engineering practices and project delivery.
Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Relevant experience in design, engineering coordination, or technical support for railway, metro, electrical, power, or infrastructure projects will be preferred.
- Good understanding of power supply systems, electrical design principles, and engineering documentation.
- Familiarity with MRT, railway, metro, or infrastructure project environments in Singapore will be an advantage.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office and engineering documentation tools. AutoCAD knowledge will be an advantage.
- Good command of English, both written and spoken. Ability to communicate in Chinese will be an advantage for coordination with Chinese speaking stakeholders.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in MRT power supply systems, substations, transformers, switchgear, rectifiers, SCADA, earthing, traction power, or related railway electrical systems will be an advantage.
- Experience in technical submissions, design reviews, or authority coordination for rail or infrastructure projects will be beneficial.
- Exposure to construction support, testing and commissioning activities, or safety assurance documentation will be an advantage.
