Project Lead Engineer – Automation & Control Systems

Role Summary

The Project Lead Engineer will be responsible for leading automation and control system projects from design to commissioning. The role includes PLC programming, DCS configuration, HMI/SCADA development, system integration, and technical leadership of the engineering team to ensure successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

🔹 Project Leadership

• Lead and manage automation and control system projects from concept to commissioning.

• Coordinate with clients, vendors, and internal teams to ensure project milestones are achieved.

• Plan engineering activities, manpower allocation, and project schedules.

• Ensure project execution meets technical specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements.

🔹 Automation & Control System Development

• Develop and implement PLC programs, DCS configurations, and control strategies.

• Design and configure HMI/SCADA systems for monitoring and control of industrial processes.

• Perform system integration between PLC, DCS, field instruments, and third-party equipment.

🔹 Industrial Communication & Integration

• Configure and troubleshoot industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, and CC-Link.

• Integrate automation systems with VFDs, servo drives, motor controllers, and other field devices.

🔹 Programming & System Logic Development

• Develop automation logic using Ladder Logic, Functional Block Diagram (FBD), Structured Control Language (SCL), and Sequential Flowchart.

• Optimize control algorithms and troubleshoot system issues during commissioning.

🔹 Engineering Documentation

• Prepare and review technical documents including:

• P&ID diagrams

• Control narratives

• I/O lists

• Functional design specifications

• Test procedures and commissioning reports

🔹 Testing & Commissioning

• Lead Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT).

• Support on-site installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of automation systems.

• Ensure smooth system startup and operational reliability.

🔹 Team & Client Coordination

• Guide and mentor junior engineers and technicians.

• Provide technical support and training to operations and maintenance teams.

• Maintain effective communication with clients and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

Required Skills & Experience

✔ Strong experience in PLC programming, DCS configuration, and SCADA/HMI development

✔ Hands-on experience with VFDs, servo drives, and motor control systems

✔ Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, CC-Link)

✔ Ability to develop automation logic and system architecture

✔ Experience preparing P&ID, control narratives, and I/O lists

✔ Strong troubleshooting, leadership, and project management skills
