Role Summary
The Project Lead Engineer is accountable for the end-to-end execution of automation and control system projects, from conceptual design through commissioning and handover. This role provides technical leadership, ensures alignment with project objectives, and drives excellence in engineering execution, system integration, and client satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
🔹 Project Leadership & Delivery
- Lead the full project lifecycle, including engineering design, development, testing, and commissioning of automation systems.
- Drive project planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and risk management to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
- Act as the primary technical interface with clients, vendors, and cross-functional teams.
- Ensure compliance with contractual, technical, safety, and quality standards throughout execution.
🔹 Automation System Engineering
- Architect, design, and implement PLC, DCS, and hybrid control systems aligned with process requirements.
- Develop scalable and robust control strategies to optimize system performance and reliability.
- Lead HMI/SCADA system design for intuitive visualization, monitoring, and control of industrial operations.
🔹 System Integration & Communication
- Oversee integration of PLC/DCS systems with field instruments, analyzers, and third-party systems.
- Design and troubleshoot industrial communication networks including Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, and CC-Link.
- Ensure seamless interoperability across heterogeneous automation platforms and devices.
🔹 Advanced Programming & Control Logic
- Develop and review automation software using Ladder Logic, FBD, SCL, and Sequential Control methodologies.
- Establish coding standards, modular programming practices, and version control frameworks.
- Drive optimization of control algorithms to enhance process efficiency, stability, and safety.
🔹 Engineering Documentation & Standards
- Lead preparation and validation of engineering deliverables such as:P&ID diagramsFunctional Design Specifications (FDS)Control NarrativesI/O Lists and Cause & Effect matricesTest protocols and commissioning reports
- Ensure documentation complies with industry standards and project requirements.
🔹 Testing, Commissioning & Handover
- Lead and coordinate FAT and SAT activities with clients and stakeholders.
- Supervise site installation, loop checking, and system commissioning.
- Ensure smooth startup, performance validation, and operational readiness of systems.
- Manage project handover including documentation, training, and closeout reports.
🔹 Technical Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Mentor and guide engineering teams, fostering technical excellence and continuous improvement.
- Provide technical training and support to client operations and maintenance teams.
- Maintain strong stakeholder engagement and ensure clear communication across all project phases.
Required Skills & Experience
- Proven expertise in PLC programming, DCS configuration, and SCADA/HMI systems
- Strong knowledge of industrial automation architectures and control system design
- Hands-on experience with VFDs, servo systems, and motor control applications
- In-depth understanding of industrial communication protocols and networking
- Proficiency in engineering documentation and design standards
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities
- Demonstrated leadership, project management, and team coordination skills
