Job Summary
As Chief Financial Officer of the Asia & Oceania Bloc, you will lead financial strategy, risk management, and operational control across ITOCHU’s regional offices, driving sustainable growth and ensuring robust financial governance in collaboration with the CEO for Asia & Oceania.
Responsibilities
- Lead credit risk management by establishing and enforcing credit limits to prevent bad debt across all customers in the Asia & Oceania region
- Oversee timely and accurate financial closing processes, ensuring compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and internal policies
- Develop and maintain internal control frameworks across ITOCHU Singapore and regional offices to safeguard assets and ensure operational integrity
- Manage affiliate control and treasury functions, fostering strong relationships with company bankers to optimize liquidity and financial operations
- Collaborate with the CEO for Asia & Oceania to provide strategic financial advice and solutions that support investment decisions, new business initiatives, and overall growth
- Maintain effective communication with ITOCHU Headquarters to align regional financial management policies with corporate strategy
- Ensure comprehensive tax compliance across all regional offices by resolving tax accounting issues and accurately assessing local tax provisions
- Lead and manage the Finance & Accounting Department and Risk Management & Affiliate Control Departments at ITOCHU Singapore, driving team performance and operational excellence
- Coach and motivate group staff to enhance performance and contributions within a multicultural environment
- Apply problem-solving and analytical skills to identify, define, and resolve financial and operational challenges
Required competencies and certifications
- Proven leadership and communication skills to clearly convey information and ideas in both written and verbal forms
- Expertise in Accounting (IFRS), Taxation, and Finance to ensure compliance and strategic financial management
- Proficiency in Japanese language (written and spoken) with JLPT N1 certification or equivalent, to liaise effectively with Japanese-speaking counterparts and stakeholders
