Assistant Manager (Costing & Inventory Finance) | Retail Environment |📍North East Region!

Are you strong in costing, margin analysis, and inventory governance? Join a dynamic retail environment where you will play a key role in protecting margins, improving stock accuracy, and strengthening financial controls.

Key Responsibilities

Costing and Margin Management

• Maintain accurate product costing, including purchase cost, freight, markdowns, and promotional impacts

• Monitor gross margin performance and perform detailed variance analysis

• Support pricing reviews, clearance activities, warehouse sales, and promotional events

• Review and update landed cost changes in system on a timely basis

• Partner with Merchandising and Operations teams on pricing and cost controls

Inventory Control and Stock Accuracy

• Oversee inventory accuracy across retail stores, warehouses, and consignment locations

• Monitor slow-moving, aged, obsolete, and end-of-season stock

• Lead stock counts, cycle counts, and annual physical inventory exercises

• Investigate stock variances, shrinkage, damages, and write-offs

• Support inventory planning for markdowns and stock liquidation activities

Reporting and Compliance

• Prepare regular inventory, ageing, and margin reports for management review

• Ensure inventory valuation complies with accounting standards and internal policies

• Support internal and external audit requirements related to costing and inventory

• Maintain and improve SOPs for inventory movement and controls

Systems and Process Improvement

• Ensure accurate inventory and costing data in SAP and LS Retail systems

• Support system enhancements and process improvement initiatives

• Work closely with IT and Operations to resolve data discrepancies

Team and Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Supervise and guide junior costing and inventory team members

• Collaborate with Retail Operations, Warehouse, Merchandising, and Finance teams

• Provide training to store and warehouse teams on inventory control procedures

Key Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Accounting or related discipline

• 4 to 6 years of experience in retail costing and inventory management

• Experience in multi-store retail operations preferred

• Strong knowledge of retail inventory flows and costing structures

• Hands-on experience with SAP and LS Retail systems

• Advanced Excel skills for reporting and analysis

• Strong understanding of accounting principles

• Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail

• Able to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
