We are seeking a Data Engineer to build, own, and continuously improve the data foundations that support product analytics and decision-making. This role requires strong autonomy, sound judgement, and the ability to contextualise data within product and business objectives. The ideal candidate will proactively identify gaps, ask the right questions, and partner effectively with stakeholders.

This position emphasizes data reliability, event tracking, and scalable pipelines, with a strong focus on enabling analysts and product teams to derive trusted, decision-ready insights. This is particularly crucial as we introduce login and user-level tracking across our digital products.

What youll do:

Build and own product data foundations:

  • Design and implement event-level tracking across web and product surfaces, with a clear understanding of product intent and usage behaviour.Ensure consistent, well-defined event schemas and naming conventions.Support identity stitching between anonymous and logged-in users.


Construct and manage databases and associated data marts:

  • Develop scripts to transform raw data into clean, structured data tables/data marts aligned with analytical and business needs.


Develop and maintain end-to-end data pipelines:

  • Build and maintain data pipelines from source systems to the data warehouse and downstream dashboards.Transform raw data into clean, analysis-ready datasets.Ensure pipelines are automated, versioned, and scalable.


Ensure data quality, reliability, and observability:

  • Own data freshness, completeness, and accuracy.Implement data validation, monitoring, and proactive issue detection with alerting.Maintain Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for critical datasets and dashboards.


Enable scalable dashboards and self-serve analytics:

  • Create standardized datasets that power dashboards and reporting.Reduce one-off data pulls by enabling reusable, trusted data models.Partner closely with analysts to ensure datasets meet analytical needs and are interpretable.


Collaborate cross-functionally:

  • Work closely with Product teams to design tracking aligned with product goals.Partner with Analytics teams to support insight generation.Translate product and business requirements into robust data solutions and advise on best practices.


What we're looking for:

  • Demonstrated experience building data pipelines for analytics or product data.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and data modelling.
  • Hands-on experience with event tracking, preferably with Google Analytics 4 and BigQuery.
  • Familiarity with AWS.
  • A proven track record in ensuring data quality, reliability, and monitoring.
  • The ability to work autonomously, understand product and business context, and make informed recommendations that improve data outcomes.
