Position Summary

We are seeking a Staff Engineer - Embedded Systems Hardware who will be responsible for the product embedded systems architecture designed to deploy Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions. This role focuses on selecting and implementing the most effective AI embedded systems and architectures to meet product requirements. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to innovate, implement and deliver AI products and technologies through effective collaboration, technical execution and clear communication to achieve project goals.

Key Responsibilities

System Architecture and Design

  • Translate customer and product requirements into clear system-level architectures, and measurable performance targets ensuring compliance with relevant regulatory standards.

  • Evaluate, benchmark and select embedded platforms and architectures with consideration for performance, cost, scalability and lifecycle requirements.

  • Define and own the end-to-end system architecture, ensuring cohesive integration of hardware, embedded software and AI components.

  • Lead hardware bring-up, low-level programming, proof-of-concept development, and system validation, supported by clear and maintainable technical documentation.

Product Development and Integration

  • Provide technical leadership to development teams in implementing system architecture into production-ready products, with focus on manufacturability, reliability and scalability.

  • Establish evaluation environments and test strategies to validate use cases, system behaviour and application performance.

  • Oversee system testing, debugging and user validation, translating evaluation results and feedback into actionable design and product improvements.

Project Management and Innovation

  • Collaborate closely with Product Management, Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing teams to define workflows, plan and execute milestones and ensure on-time delivery of high-quality products.

  • Stay current with embedded and edge AI technologies, tools and industry standards through research and engagement with external partners and vendors.

  • Drive continuous improvement in evaluation methodologies, development practices and innovation processes to enhance product quality and engineering efficiency.

Requirements

  • Min. Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering or related engineering field.

  • Min. 7 years of relevant experience in a similar role, with hands-on experience in system designing, developing and evaluating in both embedded hardware and software.

  • Deep understanding of microcontroller (MCU), neural processor unit (NPU) and central processor unit (CPU) architectures, with experience in multiple operating systems and low-level programming.

  • Proficiency in Python and C/C++, with strong debugging skills for complex embedded systems.

  • Experience with GPU-accelerated computing, including CUDA and TensorRT, is a plus.

  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, capable of translating complex technical and business requirements into effective solutions.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proven ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams.

  • Excellent written and spoken English communication skills, fluency in Chinese is a plus for effective interaction with Chinese-speaking stakeholders.
