Position: Assistant Project Manager
Project Type: Irrigation System (Agricultural / Landscape / Infrastructure)
Job Summary
The Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports the Project Manager in planning, execution, monitoring, and completion of irrigation system projects. The role involves site supervision, coordination, documentation, quality control, and ensuring works are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Execution & Site Supervision
Assist in supervising installation of irrigation systems including pipes, valves, pumps, filters, sprinklers, and drip lines.
Ensure work is executed as per approved drawings, specifications, and project schedule.
Monitor daily site activities and resolve routine site issues.
2. Planning & Progress Monitoring
Support preparation of daily and weekly work plans.
Track site progress and report status to the Project Manager.
Identify delays and assist in implementing corrective actions.
3. Quality Control
Ensure materials and workmanship meet project quality standards.
Assist in inspections, testing, and commissioning of irrigation systems.
Maintain quality checklists and inspection records.
Ensure rectification of defects and punch-list items.
4. Safety & Environmental Compliance
Enforce site safety rules and PPE usage.
Monitor safe trenching, excavation, and material handling.
Report incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions.
Support environmental protection measures on site.
5. Material & Resource Management
Track material deliveries, storage, and consumption.
Coordinate with suppliers and storekeepers.
Monitor manpower and equipment deployment.
Minimize material wastage and damage.
6. Documentation & Reporting
Prepare daily progress reports.
Maintain records of manpower, equipment, and materials.
Assist with RFIs, site instructions, and variation documentation.
Support preparation of as-built drawings and handover documents.
7. Coordination & Communication
Coordinate with site engineers, contractors, consultants, and vendors.
Act as a link between the Project Manager and site teams.
Attend coordination and progress meetings.
8. Cost Control Support
Assist in quantity measurements and BOQ tracking.
Support interim and final billing activities.
Alert Project Manager to potential cost overruns.
Qualifications & Experience
Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
2–5 years experience in irrigation, landscaping, or infrastructure projects.
Experience with drip and sprinkler systems is preferred.
