Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineer, Unix/Linux Systems to join a high-performing infrastructure team supporting enterprise-scale environments. This role is responsible for the administration, maintenance, optimization, and support of Linux-based infrastructure across mission-critical systems.

You will work closely with cross-functional technology teams to ensure system availability, security, performance, and compliance while contributing to infrastructure enhancements and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Red Hat OpenShift, Oracle Linux, and related infrastructure components.
  • Support system administration activities including user account management, software updates, OS patching, and configuration changes.
  • Perform system monitoring, health checks, troubleshooting, and service recovery activities.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) covering patching, backup and recovery, system hardening, and operational processes.
  • Participate in infrastructure support, implementation, upgrades, and enhancement projects.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure teams including Network, Storage, Security, and Application teams to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Execute monthly and ad-hoc operating system patching and maintenance activities.
  • Monitor system performance, recommend improvements, and optimize infrastructure resources.
  • Produce operational and performance reports to support capacity planning and service management.
  • Investigate and resolve infrastructure incidents and problems while providing support to application teams.
  • Coordinate with technology vendors and third-party partners for issue resolution and technical support.
  • Participate in standby support arrangements, including after-hours and weekend activities when required.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and leadership to junior engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience supporting Linux-based infrastructure environments.
  • Strong experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and enterprise Linux administration.
  • Experience supporting Linux patching, hardening, backup and recovery processes.
  • Familiarity with Windows Server environments, Microsoft Active Directory, and PowerShell scripting.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts, including routing and switching.
  • Experience working within enterprise or large-scale infrastructure environments.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Red Hat certification (RHCSA/RHCE) will be an advantage.
