- Responsible for keeping an organization’s database environments secure, stable, high-performing, and available for business-critical applications.

- Able to lead the design, administration, optimization, and support of enterprise database platforms while working closely with infrastructure, applications, security, and business teams.

- Manage, maintain, and support enterprise database systems in production, test, and development environments

- Administer database platforms such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or other relevant technologies

- Monitor database health, performance, storage, availability, and capacity

- Perform database installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, and migration activities

- Troubleshoot and resolve database incidents, outages, and performance issues

- Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures to protect business data

- Optimise SQL queries, indexing, and overall database performance

- Ensure database security, access control, encryption, and compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements

- Support high availability solutions such as clustering, replication, failover, and standby environments

- Work with application and infrastructure teams to support system integration, deployments, and release activities

- Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and runbooks

- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior DB administrators and project teams

- Participate in on-call support, incident response, and problem management as required
