Assistant Engineering Manager

About this opportunity

We are seeking a capable and motivated Assistant Engineering Manager to support the Engineering Manager in delivering safe, reliable, and high‑quality building operations for premium commercial assets in Singapore. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer looking to strengthen leadership capability while gaining exposure to complex building systems and regulated environments. You will play a key role in ensuring operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across building services.

What this job involves

Building Operations & Engineering Support

• Support daily operations and performance of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and life safety systems.

• Monitor building systems, respond to operational issues, and coordinate maintenance activities to ensure uninterrupted service and occupant satisfaction.

Maintenance & Contractor Management

• Assist in managing preventive and corrective maintenance programs in line with statutory and client requirements.

• Coordinate with contractors and service providers, review work quality, and support cost and performance tracking.

Financial & Procurement Support

• Support purchase requisitions, quotations, and approvals, ensuring alignment with budgets and company policies.

• Maintain finance trackers, assist with cost control, and support compliance with procurement and audit requirements.

Safety, Risk & Regulatory Compliance

• Support compliance with BCA, SCDF, MOM, and other relevant local regulations and codes.

• Assist in statutory inspections, certifications, risk assessments, and regulatory reporting to ensure a safe and compliant workplace.

Projects & Asset Improvement

• Support the planning and execution of asset enhancement and improvement projects, including minor upgrades and refurbishment works.

• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely, cost‑effective delivery.

Team Support & Development

• Support daily supervision and development of on‑site engineering staff and vendors.

• Promote a strong culture of safety, accountability, and service excellence.

What we're looking for

Qualifications & Experience

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Building Services Engineering, or Facilities Management.

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in building operations, facilities management, or engineering services within commercial, mixed‑use, or industrial assets.

Technical & Professional Skills

• Strong working knowledge of M&E systems, critical equipment, and statutory requirements in Singapore.

• Experience with CMMS and maintenance reporting tools.

• Good communication, coordination, and problem‑solving skills with strong attention to detail.

Leadership & Career Progression

• Demonstrated readiness to take on supervisory or assistant manager responsibilities.

• Exposure to project coordination and team support functions.

• Proactive, hands‑on, and service‑oriented mindset.
