Senior Backend Engineer (High-Performance Systems)

Overview

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join a high-performing engineering team building scalable, mission-critical transaction platforms.

This role is highly hands-on, with a strong focus on performance, reliability, and system scalability. You’ll be solving complex technical challenges, influencing architectural decisions, and contributing to a strong engineering culture.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Design and build scalable, cloud-native backend services powering high-volume transaction systems
• Develop clean, maintainable code primarily using C# / .NET Core, alongside another backend language
• Optimise system performance to handle high concurrency and low-latency requirements
• Conduct code reviews and drive engineering best practices and standards
• Investigate and resolve complex production issues to ensure high availability and stability
• Work closely with product and architecture teams to shape technical solutions and system design
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automation, and monitoring improvements
• Mentor junior engineers through technical guidance and knowledge sharing

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience, ideally within high-traffic or transactional environments
• Strong expertise in C# and .NET Core
• Proficiency in at least one additional backend language (Golang, Java, or Python)
• Solid understanding of concurrency, asynchronous programming, and distributed systems
• Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or equivalent)
• Strong knowledge of relational databases (MSSQL) and performance optimisation
• Ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced, problem-solving environment
