Job Description

Job Summary

The QA/QC Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all architectural works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and statutory requirements. This role focuses on inspection, testing, documentation, and coordination to achieve defect-free architectural finishes.

Key Responsibilities

1. Quality Planning & Documentation

  • Prepare, review, and implement Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA/QC) plans, Inspection & Test Plans (ITP), and checklists for architectural works.
  • Ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and material submissions.
  • Maintain proper records of inspections, test results, and quality reports.

2. Inspection & Monitoring of Works

  • Conduct site inspections for architectural works including:
  • Blockwork and brickwork
  • Plastering, screeding, and tiling
  • Waterproofing works
  • Doors, windows, glazing, and ironmongery
  • Painting and finishes
  • Ceiling and partition works
  • Monitor workmanship quality and dimensional tolerances.
  • Identify non-conformities (NCRs) and ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented.

3. Materials Control

  • Review and verify material submissions, samples, and mock-ups.
  • Inspect incoming materials to ensure they meet approved specifications and standards.
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of materials on site.

4. Testing & Compliance

  • Coordinate and witness site tests (e.g. water ponding test, adhesion tests, mock-up inspections).
  • Ensure architectural works comply with BCA, SCDF, HDB, consultant, and contract requirements.
  • Liaise with consultants and authorities for inspections and approvals.

5. Coordination & Communication

  • Coordinate with site engineers, supervisors, subcontractors, and consultants on quality matters.
  • Provide technical guidance to site teams on workmanship standards and quality expectations.
  • Attend coordination meetings, inspections, and defect walk-throughs.

6. Handover & Defects Management

  • Prepare as-built records and quality handover documents.
  • Participate in TOP / CSC inspections and consultant inspections.
  • Manage defect rectification during defect liability period (DLP).

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Civil Engineering, Building, or Construction Management.
  • Minimum 2–5 years of relevant QA/QC experience in architectural works.
  • Good knowledge of Singapore standards and authorities’ requirements (BCA, HDB, SCDF).
  • Familiar with ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.
