Senior/Systems Engineer #JK

Key Responsibilities

Project Delivery

• Lead the design, build, and implementation of Tier-1 turnkey projects for public sector and regulated clients.

• Install, configure, test, and commission telecommunications and IT systems, ensuring seamless transition from project delivery to operations.

• Perform OS hardening and security compliance activities (e.g. CIS benchmarks, patch management, vulnerability remediation).

• Prepare comprehensive technical documentation including implementation guides, security hardening checklists, and troubleshooting procedures.

Operations & Support

• Provide 24/7 technical support (rotational or standby) for mission-critical systems, ensuring high availability and minimal downtime.

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across systems, networks, and firewalls.

• Conduct Vulnerability Assessment & Penetration Testing (VAPT) in line with organisational and regulatory security policies.

• Work closely with global technology vendors to escalate, track, and resolve technical issues.

Client & Vendor Engagement

• Act as a client-facing technical lead, understanding client requirements, operational environments, and constraints.

• Conduct technical workshops, solution briefings, and security/compliance reviews for stakeholders.

• Liaise with global vendors on system upgrades, integration activities, and security advisories.

Leadership & Mentorship (Senior Role)

• Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship to junior engineers.

• Ensure adherence to engineering best practices, security standards, and documentation guidelines.

• Drive knowledge sharing and capability development within the team.

Requirements

Eligibility & Security

• Candidates with the ability to obtain and maintain high-level government security clearance.

• Comfortable working in highly regulated, security-sensitive environments.

Qualifications & Certifications

• Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Computer Science, or related disciplines (e.g. Communications Engineering, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, AI, Data Analytics).

• Professional certifications are highly desirable, including:
  CCNP, RHCE, VMware VCP, CISSP, CEH, OSCP, Fortinet NSE, Palo Alto PCNSE, AWS, CKA, or 5G-related certifications.

Technical Skills

Operating Systems

• Strong hands-on experience with Linux (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) and Windows Server.

• Experience in CIS hardening, patching, and compliance enforcement.

Networking

• Hands-on experience with Cisco and Dell switches (L2/L3, VLANs, routing, BGP, STP).

• Strong understanding of TCP/IP and network troubleshooting.

Firewalls & Security

• Practical experience with Fortinet and Palo Alto firewalls (VPN, NAT, security policies, threat prevention).

• Experience conducting VAPT and remediation.

Compliance & Governance

• Familiarity with IM8, ISO27001, PDPA, and government security frameworks.

• Experience in audit preparation, security reviews, and compliance documentation.

Virtualisation & Cloud

• Experience with VMware, Hyper-V, or OpenStack.

• Knowledge of containers (Docker, Kubernetes, Tanzu) and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) is an advantage.

Databases

• Working knowledge of MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle databases.

Soft Skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on mindset.

• Able to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Excellent documentation, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.

• Independent, self-motivated, and adaptable in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.

Other Requirements

• Willingness to provide on-call support when required.

• Willing to travel locally and overseas for project delivery and vendor engagements.

• Prior experience with public sector or government projects is a strong advantage.
