Job Description

Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Engineering Manager to lead engineering, automation, and facilities functions within a high-volume manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for driving equipment performance, automation initiatives, cost optimisation, and regulatory compliance while providing strong technical leadership to multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive and sustain Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) to meet or exceed targeted performance levels.

  • Lead and develop the Engineering team to execute continuous improvement initiatives that deliver cost savings, productivity gains, and operational excellence.

  • Review and approve equipment designs, processes, and modifications to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

  • Oversee facilities maintenance, equipment reliability, and troubleshooting to ensure uninterrupted manufacturing operations.

  • Identify, evaluate, and implement cost-reduction and efficiency improvement initiatives across engineering and manufacturing functions.

  • Provide leadership and direction to Technical, Moulding, Equipment, Process Engineering, and Workplace Safety teams.

  • Own the full lifecycle of in-house and automated machines, including concept development, design, budgeting, software development, testing, commissioning, upgrades, and continuous improvement.

  • Ensure environmental validation and compliance with ISO standards, FDA regulations, and other applicable regulatory requirements.

  • Lead and manage engineering projects, ensuring delivery on scope, cost, timeline, and quality.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related Engineering discipline.

Minimum 10 years of experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

At least 5 years of proven leadership experience delivering complex, technology-driven engineering or automation projects.

Strong expertise in automation, with hands-on experience in automation machine design and implementation.

Practical experience in PLC programming and automation systems, with exposure to machining processes such as CNC, conventional milling, lathe, and grinding.

Solid understanding of risk assessment and hazard analysis in chemical and/or medical device manufacturing environments.

Working knowledge of legal, safety, and regulatory requirements related to heavy capital equipment installation and permit-to-work systems in medical device manufacturing.

Experience across conceptual, basic, and detailed engineering design, as well as project management.

Proficient in SolidWorks for mechanical design.

Basic knowledge of PLC and HMI platforms such as Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, Keyence, Omron, or similar systems is an advantage.

Strong leadership, collaboration, and people-management skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic manufacturing environment.
