IT Infrastructure Engineer (Virtualization) Contract

Job scopes

• Build and operate virtualization platforms including AIX, Oracle/RedHat KVM (oVirt), and VMware.
• Manage end-to-end infrastructure deployment: planning, setup, testing, pre-production readiness, and production cutover.
• Ensure smooth transition from project to operations before project closure.
• Review project scope, solution design, and cutover strategy to ensure successful implementation.
• Work closely with Solution Engineers, Application Teams, Infrastructure SMEs, and service providers to meet project goals and timelines.
• Handle infrastructure-related requests: VM provisioning, IP/DNS/Hostname setup, SAN requisitions, etc.
• Ensure compliance with organizational policies and standards during infrastructure deployment.
• Proactively manage risks and escalate issues for timely resolution.
• Provision VMs and perform resource adjustments (CPU, memory, disk) as needed.
• Conduct daily health checks on virtualization platforms.
• Perform firmware and OS patching, including upgrades for End-of-Support/End-of-Life systems.
• Participate in shift work to support critical hours onsite and provide 24x7 offsite coverage.
• Support VM migration across different virtualization platforms.
• Collaborate with vendors to resolve hypervisor-related issues and implement preventive measures.
• Automate VM provisioning and routine operational tasks where feasible.
• Participate in PDC/SDC migration activities.

Job requirement

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Good expertise in Oracle/RedHat KVM (oVirt), VMware, and AIX PowerVM virtualization.
• Solid understanding of data center operations and end-to-end IT infrastructure, including networking, storage, SAN, server hardware, OS, middleware, and databases.
• Experience in supporting critical application systems is a plus
• Team player with the ability to adapt to evolving virtualization technologies.
• Proficient in scripting for automation of server management tasks.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
