Job Description
We are a Singapore-based logistics and freight services
company providing air, sea, and land transportation solutions. We are seeking
an experienced Accounts Manager with strong knowledge of GST, Singapore
Customs procedures, and IRAS compliance, preferably with prior experience
in the logistics, freight forwarding, or warehousing sector.
Key Responsibilities
Financial & Accounting Management
- Oversee full sets of accounts including AP, AR, GL, bank reconciliations, and month-end closing
- Prepare monthly financial reports, management accounts, and variance analysis
- Ensure accurate accounting of freight charges, disbursements, port charges, and agency fees
- Monitor cash flow, ageing reports, and credit control
GST & Tax Compliance
- Prepare and submit quarterly GST returns (F5) accurately and on time
- Handle GST matters related to import/export, zero-rated supplies, disbursement vs reimbursement
- Ensure proper treatment of import GST, suspended GST, and bonded warehouse transactions
- Liaise with IRAS on GST audits, queries, and assessments
- Support corporate income tax filings and tax computations
Customs & Regulatory Compliance
- Work closely with operations teams on Singapore Customs procedures
- Reconcile customs permits, import/export documentation, and billing
- Ensure compliance with Customs regulations, permits, and duty/GST declarations
- Support audits or inspections by Singapore Customs or other authorities
Audit & Controls
- Coordinate with external auditors on statutory audits
- Maintain strong internal controls and compliance with accounting standards
- Ensure proper documentation and audit trails for all financial transactions
Stakeholder & Team Management
- Liaise with freight operations, sales, banks, auditors, and tax agents
- Supervise and guide junior accounts staff
- Support management on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
Experience
- Minimum 5–8 years of accounting experience, preferably in logistics, freight forwarding, shipping, or warehousing
- Strong hands-on experience in GST returns and IRAS procedures
- Familiarity with Singapore Customs permits and import/export GST treatment
- Experience handling multi-currency transactions is an advantage
Skills & Knowledge
- Solid understanding of Singapore GST framework and Customs regulations
- Proficient in accounting systems (e.g. QuickBooks, Xero, SAP, or similar)
- Strong Excel skills
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Able to work independently and meet regulatory deadlines
Preferred Attributes
- Prior experience supporting Customs or IRAS audits
- Knowledge of freight costing, port charges, and agency disbursements
- Experience in ISO-compliant or regulated environments (e.g. ISO 9001, bizSAFE)
