Job Description

We are running a skills assessment centre to enhance sector-specific assessments and support Singapore’s goal of a skills-based workforce. As the operational backbone of the assessment center, we are building a next-generation AI-powered skills assessment system for adult learners.

We are looking for a junior to mid-level software engineer to join the team and help design and build a scalable, production-ready platform.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop backend services (Python, FastAPI or similar) 
  • Build and maintain RESTful APIs 
  • Design and manage database systems 
  • Contribute to system architecture design, including:Modular and extensible system components Support for multiple interaction types (e.g., form-based, conversational) Clean abstraction for AI components 
  • Integrate AI capabilities into the system, including:LLM-based features (e.g., question generation, feedback, interaction)AI-driven workflows within the platform 
  • Oversee integration between backend, frontend, and AI components 
  • Lead and guide student developers across different modules 
  • Support deployment and system maintenance (Docker, AWS) 


Job Requirements

  • Experience in backend software development in a professional or project setting.
  • Strong programming skills in Python.
  • Experience with backend frameworks (FastAPI, Flask, Django).
  • Knowledge of RESTful API design and system architecture.
  • Experience with relational databases (PostgreSQL preferred).
  • Familiarity with cloud deployment environments (AWS or similar).
  • Advantageous: experience with LLM APIs, AI systems, modular architectures, or interactive systems.
