Job Description

This role is with Super Tomato, a startup supported by SGInnovate Background Super Tomato began as an automation company focused on helping B2B clients build custom automation machinery. Over the years, we expanded our capabilities by launching Monster Builder, a division dedicated to design and fabrication services. This allowed us to support a wider range of engineering needs across industries. Today, we have evolved into a product-driven organisation, developing our own in-house hardware brands—each with its own identity, technology stack, and market focus. Our goal is to scale these products internationally while maintaining the strong engineering foundations that have driven our success from the beginning. Job scope About the Role We are looking for an Electrical & Control Engineer who can design electrical systems, oversee wiring and assembly, and develop PLC-based control logic for automated machines. You will work closely with mechanical and software teams to bring complex electro-mechanical systems from prototype to deployment. Key Responsibilities 1. Electrical System Design & Documentation • Create and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control layouts. • Define specifications for sensors, motors, actuators, I/O modules, breakers, power supplies, and communication lines. • Conduct testing, wiring checks, and prototype assembly when required. 2. PLC & Control System Engineering • Understand control architectures involving PLCs, SBCs, sensors and actuators. • Read and write PLC ladder logic (Mitsubishi Electric environment preferred). • Work with Modbus TCP, RS485 and other industrial communication protocols. • Coordinate integration with software engineers. • Perform on-site testing and commissioning at customer locations. 3. Supplier Coordination & Technical Purchasing • Source components and communicate technical requirements to electrical suppliers. • Review drawings, quotations and samples for technical accuracy. • Track deliveries and verify compliance with specifications. • Support BOM validation and vendor selection. 4. Research & Solution Development • Research new components, sensors, and integration methods. • Evaluate feasibility and propose improvements to system architecture. • Support continuous improvement in reliability, safety and performance. Requirements • Degree or Diploma in Electrical / Electronics Engineering or related field. • Able to read and design electrical schematics (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar). • Strong understanding of system architecture across PLC, SBC, sensors, actuators and mechanical subsystems. • Familiar with industrial protocols (Modbus TCP, RS485, etc.). • Comfortable coordinating with external vendors. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Nice to Have • Basic mechanical understanding (assembly, tolerances, motion systems). • Experience with cost evaluation, BOM alternatives or supply chain considerations. • Experience in machine wiring, panel building or field commissioning. • Exposure to industrial safety standards or certification frameworks.
