Job Description

Job Summary

As an Assistant Engineer, you will ensure the operational readiness and maintenance of naval platforms by performing hands-on maintenance, troubleshooting, refurbishment, and equipment installation across vessels, workshops, and shipyards. You will collaborate with engineers and managers and may participate in overseas attachments and training.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Superintendent in maintaining naval systems to achieve high availability and operational readiness
  • Perform maintenance tasks on vessels, in workshops, and at shipyards to ensure system functionality
  • Troubleshoot system defects and execute corrective actions to restore system performance
  • Install and remove equipment and systems onboard naval platforms and in maintenance facilities
  • Refurbish electronic units and assemblies to restore full operational capability
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and work independently when required to meet maintenance goals
  • Manage challenging customer interactions professionally to maintain service quality
  • Work outdoors and onboard naval platforms, including sailing for up to a week as required
  • Use Microsoft Word and Excel proficiently to document maintenance activities and reports

Preferred competencies and qualifications

  • NITEC or Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, or related fields)
  • Naval-related maintenance training certifications
  • Former Navy Regular welcomed to apply
  • Working location: Changi Naval Base
  • 5 dayweek
