Job Description

Role Summary

The SAP Basis Consultant provides expert-level support, governance, and optimization of SAP systems within the organization’s Center of Excellence (COE). He/She will collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement upgrades, migrations, and new SAP solutions. He/She will maintain multiple SAP instances that comprise the SAP environment (SAP ECC, SAP BW, Solution Manager, S4 Hana, SAC, DRC & BTP Platforms). This role involves ensuring system stability, performance, security, and compliance while driving best practices in SAP Basis administration.

Responsibilities

  • Perform SAP Basis administration tasks including installation, configuration, patching, and upgrades of SAP systems (ECC, S/4HANA, BW, CRM, Fiori, BTP, etc.).
  • Design and implement an optimal SAP configuration to maximize system performance and availability.
  • Manage and oversee SAP users, authorizations, and profiles.
  • Oversee, manage and distribute the online SAP user workload and monitor and manage the SAP background job workloads.
  • Oversee and manage OS Scripts and other interfaces and interface data transfers.
  • Oversee, and manage the SAP printing subsystem for all SAP instances.
  • Maintain SAP performance by planning and executing SAP tuning strategies.
  • Monitor all SAP systems (work processes, users, system logs, short dumps, locks, developer traces, system traces, disk space, etc.)
  • Administer the SAP database with Database Administrator (Hana and Oracle).
  • Perform DB reorg system copies.
  • Perform SAP HANA administration and planning as required like patching, HANA side CAR etc.
  • Perform SAP client administration as required. 
  • Define and enforce SAP Basis standards, policies, and procedures within the COE.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior Basis team members.
  • Collaborate with functional teams (MM, SD, FI, etc.) to align Basis strategies with business needs. 
  • Explore AIOps and DevOps integration for SAP environments.
  • Work on SAP BTP Platform for services to enable including SAC and cloud connectors.
  • Stay updated with SAP roadmap, new technologies, and trends. 
  • Work with and in a global, cross-functional team.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of SAP system upgrades.
  • Apply and migrate SAP maintenance through all systems using a structured methodology.
  • Develop and maintain system documentation for all SAP instances and interfaces.
  • Provide status reports for Basis project and Ops activity to management.
  • Report delivery status to customer management and develop required delivery documentations, e.g., preventive and detective processes.
  • Serve as primary contact for client management, technical activity and troubleshooting issue.
  • Serve as a L3 support for critical issues/tickets and handling RCA.
  • Develop and manage Basis infra forecast and costing.
  • Acting as the SAP solution consultant to propose and design new solutions within SAP landscape.

Requirements

  • 7-10 years working in a multinational company or global services environment or a SAP consultancy company as SAP Basis & Authorizations Consultant.
  • Experience in leading a team of 5 or more supporting project and operation activity.
  • Strong experience in Domain of SAP Basis (SAP BC) & SAP Management of Authorizations.
  • Strong experience in Basis roll-outs including S4HANA and ECC from Basis perceptive (User, Roles, Printer, Jobs and scripts management).
  • Knowledge in using Solution Manager with functionality like Job monitoring, EWA, Technical Monitoring including SAP Focussed Run.
  • Willing to work in 24/7 support model based on as and when required to support cross domain operations.
  • Excellent communication skills in both verbally and written form.
  • Can work in an independent manner, as well as integrate well into a team, ability to take initiative and change for improvements.
