Job Description

About Tuodao Medical Technology Co., Ltd.

Tuodao Medical Technology Co. Ltd is a Nanjing-based global innovator at the forefront of surgical robotics, dedicated to redefining the future of minimally invasive surgery. From our strategic office in Singapore, we are establishing a Global Sales and Technical Support Center. This hub is central to our worldwide commercialization operations, serving as the core for sales activities, remote assistance for surgical teams, in-depth market intelligence analytics, and contribution to the refinement of our next-generation surgical robotics platform. Join our ambitious team and become the vital on-the-ground technical expert ensuring the reliability and performance of our transformative surgical technologies in operating rooms worldwide.

The Mission

As our Servicing &Maintenance Specialist, you will be the technical backbone of our customer support operations. You are responsible for ensuring maximum system uptime and optimal performance of our surgical robotic systems across hospitals in the region. You will be the first responder when technical issues arise, providing rapid troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and hands-on repair to ensure surgeons and OR teams can operate with confidence. Your work directly impacts patient safety and surgical outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Field Service &Repair (50%)

  • Perform on-site installation, integration, testing, and commissioning of robotic surgical systems.
  • Conduct breakdown repair and systematic troubleshooting of the robotic systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex issues spanning mechanical, electronic, and software systems.
  • Execute component-level repairs and swapping where necessary to minimize downtime.
  • Provide remote technical support and guidance to on-site service technicians, hospital biomedical teams, OR staff etc.

Preventive Maintenance & Quality (30%)

  • Schedule and perform regular preventive maintenance (PM) , safety checks, and performance optimization per product specifications.
  • Execute IQ/OQ/PQ (Installation/Operational/Performance Qualification) protocols for new installations and after major repairs.
  • Maintain detailed service records, logs, and technical documentation in compliance with ISO 13485, FDA, CE MDR, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure systems are calibrated and validated to meet clinical safety standards.

Customer &Technical Support (20%)

  • Train hospital-based biomedical engineers and technicians on system maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Act as the "voice of technical reliability" by gathering field data on recurring issues and feeding insights back to R&D and production teams in HQ.
  • Manage spare parts inventory, including consigned stock at hospital sites, ensuring critical components are available when needed.
  • Collaborate with the Clinical Application Specialists to ensure seamless handover between technical support and clinical support during live cases.

Qualifications& Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on field service experience in medical devices, capital equipment, laboratory instrumentation, or industrial robotics.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Strong understanding of electronics, motors, actuators, and servo mechanisms (robotic arm control).
  • Proficiency in networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, LAN, wireless) —robotic systems are connected devices.
  • Experience with Linux/Windows environments, software upgrades, and firmware updates.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical diagrams.
  • Hands-on experience with hand tools, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and diagnostic software.
  • Specific experience servicing surgical robotic systems (e.g., da Vinci, Medtronic Hugo, Stryker Mako) or other high-value robotic capital equipment will be an added advantage.
  • Experience with IQ/OQ/PQ protocols and medical device regulatory compliance (ISO 13485, FDA, MDD/MDR) will be an added advantage
  • Familiarity with Maintenance Management Systems or similar SOP for tracking service tickets will be an added advantage.

Soft Skills &Attributes

  • Methodical Troubleshooter: You don't just fix symptoms; you find root causes.
  • Calm Under Pressure: You can handle a stressed OR manager calling you at 2 AM because a robot is down before a scheduled surgery.
  • Customer-Oriented: You understand that the hospital is not just a "site"—it is a partner.
  • Self-Starter: Ability to manage your own schedule, travel logistics, and spare parts inventory independently.
  • Language: Proficiency in English is required, proficiency in Chinese is highly preferred to facilitate communication with HQ.

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • The "Systems Thinker": You see the robot not just as a machine, but as an integrated system of mechanics, electronics, and software connected to the hospital network.
  • The Agile Learner: Surgical robotics technology evolves rapidly. You stay current on new software versions, instrument upgrades, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • The Trusted Partner: You build relationships with hospital Biomed teams, empowering them to handle minor issues while you focus on complex interventions.
  • The Process Driver: You thrive on documentation, checklists, and continuous improvement—ensuring every service visit leaves the system better than you found it.

What We Offer

  • Competitive Package: Attractive base salary, performance-based incentives, shift allowance (for on-call support), travel allowance, and comprehensive medical benefits.
  • Cutting-Edge Technology: Work on next-generation robotic systems that are defining the future of surgery.
  • Global Collaboration: Direct interaction with R&D, manufacturing, and quality teams in our Nanjing headquarters. Your field insights will shape product improvements.
  • Career Development: Clear pathway to Senior Service Engineer, Team Lead, or Service Manager as we expand regionally.
  • Impact: Your hands keep robots running. When the robot works, surgeons operate, patients heal, and lives are saved.

Work Environment& Schedule

  • Travel: Potentially up to 50-70% globally (Latin American, Middle East, Eastern Europe, broader APAC).
  • On-Call Requirement: Potentially participation in a rotating on-call schedule.
  • Work Location: Based in Singapore.
