Job Description
THE ROLE: Lecturer
This position is part of Kaplan's teaching-track pathway, offered on a 3-year renewable contract with opportunities for extended-term appointments based on performance and institutional needs.
The Lecturer is responsible for delivering high-quality teaching in the Diploma in Professional Business English (PBEP) programme, which supports students in developing the English language proficiency required for progression to diploma- and degree-level studies. The role involves creating engaging, student-centred learning experiences that foster language development and academic readiness.
Beyond classroom teaching, the Lecturer will contribute to curriculum design, assessment development, and ongoing enhancement of the PBEP. The position also includes responsibilities in module coordination and participation in academic planning activities. Engagement with internal and external stakeholders is expected to ensure alignment with institutional goals and to enhance student outcomes and the overall reputation of the programme.
Key Responsibilities:
• Teaching and Learning
• Deliver high-quality, student-centred lessons in the Diploma in Professional Business English (PBEP)programme.
• Provide timely, constructive feedback to support student progress.
• Provide academic advice and language learning support to students, helping them build confidence and readiness for further diploma- or degree-level study.
• Curriculum and Programme Development
• Lead/participate in the review and enhancement of the PBEP curriculum and instructional practices to align with KHEA’s graduate attributes and quality assurance standards.
• Develop formative and summative assessments aligned with programme learning outcomes.
• Collaborate with teachers and colleagues to ensure consistency and quality in the delivery and assessment of modules.
• Academic Coordination and Quality Assurance
• Serve as a Discipline Coordinator, coordinating teaching and assessment activities to ensure high quality delivery.
• Uphold academic integrity, teaching quality, and student satisfaction in line with institutional framework.
• Lead or participate in cross-departmental initiatives to enhance academic practices and policies.
• Assist the Head of School in strategic decision-making and academic planning, including documentation for internal reviews and accreditation.
• Team and Stakeholder Engagement
• Mentor and support academic staff by conducting staff development seminars and training and sharing best practices.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to ensure programme relevance and student satisfaction.
• Promote student recruitment and retention through innovative approaches and effective teamwork.
• Contribute to departmental committees, working groups, and institution-wide initiatives as required.
Qualifications:
• A recognised Bachelor’s degree. Master’s candidates will be given priority consideration.
• A TEFL, TESOL, CELTA, or equivalent teaching certification.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience teaching English as a Second Language, preferably in a post-secondary context.
• Teaching/ academic instructional experience.
• Course development/design experience would be advantageous.
• Excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to maintain tight schedules and meet set goals.
• Ability to work well in a team, adapt to stressful conditions and new technologies.
• Familiarity with CEFR, IELTS, or similar English language proficiency frameworks.

• Working Hours: Mondays to Fridays, 9am to 6pm
• Location: Singapore (Central Area: Dhoby Ghaut MRT/Little India MRT/Rochor MRT)
