Design Engineer (HVAC / Ventilation / Thermal Systems)

Role Overview

This role is for an engineer who understands how systems perform in actual operation, not just in drawings. You will be responsible for engineering calculations, system sizing, and practical design execution for enclosed and containerised environments where airflow, pressure, and heat management are critical.

Key Responsibilities

1. Carry out engineering calculations and sizing for:
- Airflow (CFM / m³/hr)
- Static pressure and pressure drop
- Heat load and temperature control

2. Design and size HVAC, ventilation, exhaust, and cooling system

3. Develop practical, buildable designs that consider:
- Equipment layout and space constraints
- Fabrication and installation method
- Access, maintenance, and operation

4. Prepare and review:
- Engineering drawings
- Design calculations
- Technical specification

5. Coordinate with:
- Fabrication teams - Site engineers
- Project and operations team

6. Support site implementation, design validation, and troubleshooting when required

Requirements

1. Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline

2. Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience in:
- HVAC systems
- Ventilation and exhaust systems
- Thermal and airflow engineering

3. Proven hands-on experience in system sizing and design for real installation

4. Strong capability in:
- Airflow and duct sizing
- Pressure drop calculations
- Temperature and heat load analysis

5. Able to translate design intent into systems that can be built, installed, and operated

6. Comfortable working with real-world constraints such as space, cost, fabrication, and site conditions
