Database Administrator

ABOUTTHE ROLE

We are seeking a skilled and motivated DatabaseAdministrator to join a dynamic enterprise IT operations team in Singapore. Inthis role, you will be the primary custodian of MS-SQL database environmentsacross production and non-production landscapes, ensuring high availability,performance, and reliability in a round-the-clock support model.

Candidates with exposure to SAP HANA are welcome —structured on-the-job training will be provided to deepen SAP HANA competency.This is an excellent opportunity for a DBA professional looking to broadentheir enterprise database skillset in a high-impact environment.

KEYRESPONSIBILITIES

Database Operations & Incident Management

▸   Respond to and resolve database incidents promptly tominimise downtime and restore services within agreed SLAs.

▸   Monitor database events, handle alerts, and manage outagesacross MS-SQL production and non-production environments.

▸   Perform root cause analysis (RCA) on recurring databaseincidents and implement preventive measures to reduce repeat failures.

▸   Manage database outages end-to-end, including coordinationwith application and infrastructure teams during recovery.

Service Requests & Change Management

▸   Process and fulfil service requests for database changes,enhancements, and configuration updates.

▸   Support the implementation of standard and custom databasebuilds in line with organisational standards.

▸   Execute database deployments and changes in a controlled,risk-managed manner.

Backup, Recovery & Decommissioning

▸   Ensure adherence to backup and recovery processes; performscheduled backups, validate recovery procedures, and conduct periodic DRtesting.

▸   Decommission database systems and servers followingestablished protocols, including data archival, storage cleanup, and compliancesign-off.

Performance & Monitoring

▸   Proactively monitor database performance, manage alertthresholds, and optimise query and system performance.

▸   Conduct regular health checks, capacity reviews, andtuning activities to ensure optimal database operation.

▸   Maintain and manage database security, user accesscontrols, and audit compliance.

SAP HANA (Trainable)

▸   Develop proficiency in SAP HANA administration throughstructured on-the-job training and mentoring.

▸   Progressively take on SAP HANA operational tasks includingmonitoring, health checks, and backup management as competency grows.

REQUIREMENTS

Essential

▸   2 – 5 years of hands-on experience in databaseadministration with a strong focus on MS-SQL.

▸   Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, ComputerEngineering, or a related field.

▸   Solid understanding of RDBMS concepts, database design,and administration best practices.

▸   Proven experience with backup, recovery, anddecommissioning processes.

▸   Experience in incident management and database performanceoptimisation within a 24x7 support environment.

▸   Demonstrated ability to manage database outages andcoordinate effective recovery.

▸   Familiarity with alert monitoring tools and performancetuning methodologies.

▸   Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills underpressure.

▸   Good written and verbal communication skills for incidentand service request management.

Advantageous

▸   Exposure to SAP HANA or other enterprise databases (SybaseASE, MaxDB, Oracle) — training will be provided.

▸   Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or MicrosoftAzure.

▸   Familiarity with ITIL-based service management processes.

▸   Scripting knowledge (Shell, Python, or SQL-basedautomation).
