Lead Engineer / Principal Engineer (Cloud) (Ref 26443)

Responsibilities

• Partner closely with the different business verticals in identifying modernisation opportunities aligned with industry best practices and emerging technologies

• Involved with pre-sales, lead generation, creating proposals, shaping engagements for clients and helping to educate both clients and colleagues about the value of our services and the commercial success they can deliver

• Take a consultative approach with our clients' C-level executives and other stakeholders, working as their trusted advisor to enable them to achieve their business goals and redefine their industry

• Be a key member of the Enterprise Modernisation, Platform and Cloud service line, creating points of view and solutioning content through your insights on client needs and associated solutions, and also through defining progressive and repeatable practices which will help us to scale our efforts

• Drive creation of industry leading IP and best practices for modernising legacy retail banking systems while nurturing and upskilling future thought leaders.

• Partner closely with technical leaders to support the delivery team, ensuring they have what they need to successfully execute engagement and deliver extraordinary impact to our clients

• Stay current with the organisation's business strategy and our technology goals

• Achieve billing targets by being fully or fractionally staffed on client engagements

Requirements

• Proven experience delivering enterprise-scale modernisation and migration programs in large organisations.

• Strong technical background across multiple programming paradigms; familiarity with Python is advantageous. 

• Hands-on experience with modern technologies including: Kubernetes, Kafka, Istio, PostgreSQL, Cloud-native platforms and tooling 

• Deep understanding of modern architecture principles including: MACH Architecture (Microservices, API-first, Cloud-native, Headless), Evolutionary Architecture, Event-driven Architecture, Distributed Systems Design, LIFESPAR principles 

• Strong expertise in building cloud-native applications using: Microservices, Serverless architectures, APIs and API lifecycle management, Data streaming platforms, Synchronous and asynchronous communication patterns 

• Solid understanding of distributed systems consistency models including: Linearizability, Serializability 

• Experience designing highly available and resilient systems across: Multi-AZ environments, Multi-region deployments, Multi-cloud architectures 

• Knowledge of security engineering, observability, reliability engineering, and system performance optimisation.

• Strong client-facing communication and presentation skills with the ability to articulate and defend technical solutions to senior architects and executive stakeholders.

• Demonstrated experience engaging with C-level business and technology leaders using a consultative selling approach. 

• Ability to translate complex technical solutions into measurable business value and strategic outcomes. 

• Strong understanding of: Agile methodologies, Lean delivery principles, Continuous Delivery, DevOps practices, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) 

• Excellent stakeholder management, collaboration, and leadership capabilities.

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to connect enterprise strategy to delivery execution and measurable outcomes.
