Data Engineer (Power BI, SSIS & Scripting) – 1-Year Contract

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join a project-based team on a 1-year contract. This role focuses on data integration, transformation, automation, and reporting, with strong hands-on involvement in SSIS development, Power BI reporting, and scripting using Python or C#.

The ideal candidate is technically strong, detail-oriented, and comfortable working across data pipelines, automation scripts, and business intelligence solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain ETL pipelines using SSIS to integrate data from multiple sources.

• Develop automation scripts using Python or C# to support data processing, validation, and workflow automation.

• Build and maintain Power BI datasets, reports, and dashboards aligned with business requirements.

• Write, optimise, and maintain SQL queries, views, and stored procedures.

• Perform data transformation, cleansing, validation, and reconciliation.

• Implement and optimise data models for reporting performance and scalability.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather reporting and data requirements.

• Troubleshoot and resolve data quality, performance, and refresh issues.

• Maintain clear technical documentation for ETL processes, scripts, and reports.

• Support ongoing enhancements, maintenance, and optimisation of existing data solutions.
  

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related discipline.

• 3–6 years of experience in data engineering, BI, or data integration roles.

• Strong hands-on experience with SSIS.

• Proven experience with Power BI, including data modelling and report development.

• Proficiency in SQL Server and SQL performance tuning.

• Hands-on scripting experience using Python or C# for automation or data processing.

• Good understanding of ETL frameworks and data warehousing concepts.

• Strong analytical mindset with high attention to detail.

• Able to work independently in a project-based environment.
  

Preferred / Advantageous

• Experience with DAX and Power BI Service (gateways, refresh schedules).

• Exposure to .NET frameworks (for C# candidates).

• Experience working with large datasets or enterprise BI environments.

• Familiarity with Azure data services (Azure SQL, Data Factory) is a plus.
