Database Administrator (PostgreSQL, Sybase) $8,500, Banking Industry

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer and maintain PostgreSQL and Sybase ASE/IQ databases, including installation, configuration, upgrades, and patching.

• Implement and manage High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions.

• Monitor performance and perform query tuning, index optimization, and capacity planning.

• Troubleshoot incidents, perform root cause analysis, and support change management.

• Develop and maintain scripts (e.g., Shell, Python) to automate DBA tasks.

• Collaborate with development and DevOps teams on deployments and CI/CD processes.

• Ensure database security, access control, and compliance with internal policies.

• Maintain documentation and support global infrastructure activities (e.g., DR drills, maintenance windows).
  

Requirements:

• 6–8 years of experience as a PostgreSQL and/or Sybase DBA in enterprise environments.

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline.

• Proficient in configuring and managing HA/DR, replication, and backup strategies.

• Strong knowledge of SQL performance tuning, monitoring tools (e.g., pg_stat_statements, pgBadger), and database internals.

• Scripting experience in Shell, Python, or T-SQL.

• Solid understanding of ITIL processes and production support best practices.

• Strong communication and documentation skills.

• Experience in a regulated industry (e.g., finance) is a plus.

• Certifications in PostgreSQL, Sybase, or cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) are preferred.

• Rotational shifts is required to support Asia and Europe teams.
