About the Company

Our Client is a fast-growing technology company building an AI-enabled workflow and operations platform for complex, long-cycle business processes.

The platform is already used both internally and by external enterprise and mid-market clients to replace manual work, simplify operations, and scale output without scaling headcount.

Rather than selling AI as a concept, the company focuses on measurable productivity and cost outcomes. AI is embedded deeply into day-to-day workflows, enabling small teams to operate at enterprise scale.

The company is now seeking a Tech Lead with strong AI-first thinking and business execution capability to help scale this foundation into a robust, extensible platform.

The Role

This is not a traditional Engineering Lead role.

You will act as the bridge between:

• Business intent and AI execution

• Customer pain points and system design

• International, lean teams and scalable outcomes

The role combines technical leadership, AI-native system thinking, and commercial awareness. You will work closely with founders and senior stakeholders, but you are not required to be customer-facing on a daily basis.

Key Responsibilities

1. AI-First System & Product Leadership

• Design and evolve AI-embedded workflow systems for both internal and external use cases

• Apply AI to automate multi-step processes, decision logic, and operational judgment

• Build internal tooling where AI accelerates further AI development

• Balance customer-specific adaptations with standardized, repeatable architectures

2. Business-Driven AI Implementation

• Translate real operational and customer problems into deployable AI solutions

• Distinguish where automation is sufficient versus where AI creates compounding value

• Design solutions that reduce cost, manual effort, and dependency on human intervention

• Support the roadmap toward agent-based or semi-autonomous systems

3. Technical Leadership in a Lean Environment

• Lead and mentor a small, high-output engineering team

• Drive execution from the ground up while aligning with top-down priorities

• Set pragmatic technical standards that favour speed, clarity, and maintainability

• Make effective build-vs-buy decisions under resource constraints

4. AI Thought Partnership

• Stay current on AI models, tools, and implementation patterns

• Apply AI trends with judgment rather than hype

• Help the organisation adopt AI in ways that genuinely simplify work

• Contribute to regional and product expansion strategies

Who We’re Looking For

Core Requirements

• AI-native mindset — AI is your default design layer, not an add-on

• Strong business and operational understanding

• Ability to move fluidly between architecture, execution, and outcomes

• Comfortable working in ambiguity and early-stage environments

• Outcome-driven and pragmatic in approach

Experience That Fits Well

• Background in product engineering, solution architecture, or applied AI systems

• Experience building B2B platforms, internal tools, or workflow-heavy products

• Exposure to complex operational domains (e.g. enterprise processes, multi-step workflows) is a plus

• Consulting or “builder-translator” profiles are highly relevant

• Comfortable working with distributed or cross-border teams in an English-speaking environment

• A pure research or academic AI role

• A hands-off people-management position

• A narrow, single-function engineering role
