Job Description

Job Title: Senior Pilates Instructor (Reformer & Equipment)

About Off Duty Pilates

Off Duty Pilates was founded on the belief that Reformer Pilates should be experienced as a lifestyle—offering energetic, fitness-focused group classes that remain true to the core principles of Pilates. We combine private Reformer and full Equipment training with a commitment to making Pilates accessible and enjoyable.

Helmed by a team of friendly, experienced, and approachable instructors, working out at ODP is the pathway to a strong and lean body. We have curated our space and class experience with fresh tracks and creative programming so that working out never feels like ‘work’. We are looking for a Senior Instructor to help lead our team, elevate our teaching standards, and embody the Off Duty ethos.

Job Description

As a Senior Instructor, you will not only deliver high-quality group and private training but also serve as a technical lead within the studio. You will be responsible for upholding the Off Duty Pilates standard of creative, energetic programming while ensuring the foundational principles of Pilates are strictly maintained.

You will act as a mentor figure to junior staff and provide specialized attention to clients with complex needs. We are looking for a professional who is inspiring, supportive, and dynamic—a leader who encourages clients to explore their boundaries safely.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Advanced Instruction & Programming

  • Program and lead high-intensity group reformer classes (up to 10 clients) and personalised private sessions (Reformer, Cadillac, Chair, Barrels).

  • Design and execute advanced-level class plans that align with the ODP framework while introducing fresh, problem-solving approaches to movement.

  • Manage a portfolio of private clients with specific goals, including injury rehabilitation, pre/post-natal conditioning, and athletic performance enhancement.

  • Demonstrate expert ability to modify and progress exercises instantly to accommodate mixed-level groups.

2. Technical Leadership & Mentorship

  • Assist the Studio Director in maintaining teaching quality across the team.

  • Provide guidance and informal mentorship to newer instructors regarding class sequencing, cueing techniques, and client management.

  • Collaborate on the development of new class types or workshops to keep the studio offerings competitive and relevant.

3. Client Relations & Advisory

  • Act as a senior point of contact for client queries regarding physical limitations, injuries, and package recommendations.

  • Build long-term retention through effective goal-setting and progression tracking for private clients.

  • Foster a neutral, safe, and encouraging environment for all clients, regardless of fitness level.

4. Studio Operations

  • Oversee studio standards during shifts, ensuring equipment safety and hygiene protocols are met.

  • Utilize the booking platform proficiently to manage class attendance, private scheduling, and client profiles.

  • Assist with studio operations, including retail management and merchandise organization.

Job Requirements

Experience & QualificationsTo be considered for this Senior position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum of 6 years of verifiable full-time Pilates teaching experience.

  • Full Certification Required: Must hold fully completed certifications in Stott Pilates Intensive Mat-Plus (IMP), Intensive Reformer (IR), and Intensive Cadillac, Chair & Barrels (ICCB).

    • Note: Equivalent comprehensive certifications from other internationally recognized faculties (e.g., Polestar, BASI) may be considered if accompanied by extensive teaching history.

  • Must have passed all relevant practical and written examinations for the above certifications.

  • Proven track record of working with special populations (e.g., scoliosis, disc herniation, pre/post-natal, post-surgery rehabilitation).

Technical & Soft Skills

  • Equipment Proficiency: Extensive familiarity with Merrithew (Stott) and Balanced Body equipment is mandatory.

  • Leadership Capabilities: Demonstrated ability to mentor junior instructors or lead workshops is highly advantageous.

  • Teaching Style: A confident, hands-on adjustment style with a high energy level suitable for the ODP brand identity.

  • Adaptability: Ability to troubleshoot schedule changes and substitute classes for other team members when required.

Schedule Commitment

  • This is a full-time position requiring a commitment to a minimum of 25 teaching hours per week.

  • Must be willing to work flexible hours, including weekday evenings and at least one weekend day (Saturday or Sunday) to meet studio peak demands.
