ROLE OVERVIEW

My client are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented QA/QC Engineer to lead and support quality assurance and control activities across offshore and marine projects, including living quarters, and associated structural and outfitting systems. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in both fabrication quality control and quality management systems. The role spans the full project lifecycle — from engineering review and vendor qualification through fabrication surveillance, inspection, and final acceptance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish, implement, and maintain the Project Quality Plan (PQP) and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) in accordance with client and classification society requirements.
  • Ensure QA/QC activities are conducted in compliance with client specifications, applicable international standards, and classification society rules (e.g. DNV, ABS, LR, RINA).
  • Coordinate and conduct internal and external quality audits; track findings through to closure.
  • Maintain and control quality documentation including NCRs, CARs, quality records, and certificates.
  • Review and approve Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Methods Statements, and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS / PQRs).
  • Oversee fabrication quality control activities including:
  • Structural steel and aluminium fabrication inspection
  • Weld inspection and welder qualification (to ASME IX, AWS D1.1, ISO 15614)
  • Dimensional checks, fit-up inspection, and surface treatment verification
  • NDT coordination (UT, RT, MT, PT) and review of NDT reports
  • Coating and painting inspection to applicable standards (e.g. ISO 12944, NACE)
  • Conduct vendor qualification assessments and pre-fabrication meetings.
  • Perform supplier and subcontractor surveillance visits; review and approve vendor quality documentation.
  • Witness and certify Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and pre-shipment inspections.
  • Serve as the primary QA/QC interface with client, other major operators, and third-party inspection authorities (TPI).
  • Prepare and present quality status reports, punch list tracking, and close-out documentation to clients and management.
  • Support site quality activities during installation, commissioning, and pre-sail-away inspections.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Structural, Marine, or related discipline); technical diploma with extensive relevant experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 5 – 10 years of QA/QC experience in offshore, marine, or EPC project environments.
  • Sound knowledge of applicable international standards including:
  • ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management Systems
  • ASME, AWS, ISO welding and fabrication standards
  • NACE / ISO coating and surface treatment standards
  • IEC, API, and classification society requirements (DNV, ABS, LR)
  • Recognised inspection or quality qualification:
  • CSWIP 3.1 / AWS CWI Welding Inspector (preferred)
  • BGAS / NACE Coating Inspector (advantageous)
  • ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification (advantageous)
  • Experience in aluminium structure fabrication QC is a distinct advantage.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with document control and QMS platforms.
  • Good command of written and spoken English; Arabic language ability is an advantage
Direct project experience under QatarEnergy, Shell, TotalEnergies, or equivalent major operator quality frameworks.
  • Involvement in offshore living quarters (LQ), accommodation modules, or helideck projects.
  • Experience working with shipyards in Singapore, the Middle East, or Southeast Asia.
