Business Analyst (Metals Trading)

Our client, a global commodities trading firm specialising in metals, is looking for a commercially driven Business Analyst to support its international trading operations.

This is a high-visibility role where you will translate global metals market intelligence into actionable insights, directly influencing trading strategies, pricing decisions, and customer engagement across key markets including Asia, Middle East, Africa, Europe, and the Americas.

You will partner closely with traders and commercial teams in a fast-paced environment where market insight drives real trading impact. Key Responsibilities

Metals Market Intelligence

• Analyse global metals markets, covering price trends, supply-demand dynamics, and trade flows
• Track key developments across China, India, Southeast Asia, Middle East, Africa, Europe, and the US
• Deliver sharp, insight-driven monthly market reports with clear commercial implications
• Monitor macro trends, competitor activity, and industry shifts impacting metals trading

Commercial & Trading Support

• Provide data-backed insights to support pricing strategies and trading decisions
• Prepare concise market narratives and talking points for customer and internal discussions
• Capture and distil market intelligence from clients, tenders, and trading activities
• Maintain and enhance price trackers, dashboards, and internal data systems

Reporting & Visualisation

• Build clear, impactful dashboards and presentations for senior management and Board reporting
• Support weekly and monthly market updates with high data accuracy and consistency
• Turn complex data into simple, decision-ready insights

Process Optimisation & Projects

• Streamline commercial templates (e.g. contract summaries, shipment trackers, market reports)
• Develop SOPs to enhance efficiency and scalability across trading support functions
• Support ad-hoc initiatives including reporting automation and data improvements

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
• 3–4 years of experience in commodities (metals preferred), with exposure to analysis, trading, or commercial roles
• Strong analytical mindset with a genuine interest in global metals markets
• Familiarity with international trade practices and Incoterms
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel is key)
