Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Unix ICT Infrastructure Engineer to join our team and take ownership of Unix-based infrastructure systems and projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing Unix server environments, with particular expertise in Identity Management (IDM) systems and Red Hat Satellite Capsule technologies. This role requires a strategic thinker who can translate business requirements into robust Unix infrastructure solutions whilst ensuring compliance with government technical standards and policies. The position involves close collaboration with service providers, application teams, and operations staff to deliver high-availability Unix infrastructure that supports critical business applications. The ideal candidate will serve as the primary Unix infrastructure specialist, providing technical leadership from project inception through to operational handover.

Work Location : MAS (Project on Contract)

a. Implement Unix-based infrastructure projects within their established practice to ensure service delivery and support to meet the intended availability, continuity and capacity requirements.
b. Translate business requirements into Unix infrastructure design solutions.
c. Work with service providers to design, develop, deploy and configure Unix infrastructure to meet resiliency, availability and data integrity needs.
d.Ensure compliance to Authority's Technical Architecture and SG-TRM, as well as IM8 and Authority IT Policies for Unix environments.
e. Manage Unix Infrastructure operations, projects and services to support application systems environments.
f. Request to provision new Unix VMs for new systems deployment.
g. Manage Unix system architecture, resource planning, infrastructure performance and system hosting environment from server hardware to Unix OS layer (excluding hypervisor and storage) in support of new applications.
h. Serve as main Unix infrastructure single-point-of-contact for all new application system initiatives and to support/assist in application architecture design, integration and acceptance and Unix infrastructure performance testing.
i. Handover Unix Infrastructure and Systems standard operating procedures and day-to-day performance/availability monitoring to Operations Engineer upon commissioning and completion of PGP.
j. Support Operations Engineer on Unix Infrastructure and Systems troubleshooting and maintenance.
k. Assist in Unix Infrastructure Architecture review, support and endorsement. Review Unix hardening standards for OS, database and applications.
l. Unix hosting environment infrastructure on-boarding (design, setup, configuration, implementation, testing and commissioning of Unix infrastructure components).
m. Understand Unix systems operations environment including monitoring, patching, and maintenance procedures.
n. Take care of end-to-end Unix operations and integrations with client machines.
o. Expert proficiency with Unix systems and enterprise management tools, including:
• Red Hat Identity Management (IDM)
• IDM replica management and high availability configuration
• LDAP directory services integration and management
• Kerberos authentication and Single Sign-On (SSO) implementation
• Certificate Authority (CA) management within IDM
• Red Hat Satellite Server and Capsule deployment and management
• Satellite Capsule configuration for distributed content management
• Content lifecycle management and patch deployment via Satellite
• Configuration management and compliance reporting through Satellite
• Unix/Linux system provisioning and automated deployment
• Shell scripting (Bash, Python) for automation and system management
Unix clustering and high availability solutions (Pacemaker, Corosync)
Unix security hardening and compliance frameworks
Government Commercial Cloud (GCC) Unix infrastructure management

Skills Set and Qualifications

a. Tertiary Education in Computer Science,Information Technology, or relevant technical fields is preferred.
b. Minimum 3-5 years hands-on experience in Unix/Linux environments (RHEL, CentOS, AIX), including Unix OS virtualisation technologies, familiarity on Unix-based SAN storage integration and Unix database systems (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL).
c. Strong expertise in Red Hat technologies including RHEL, Red Hat Satellite, Red Hat Identity Management, and Red Hat clustering solutions.
d. Proficiency in Unix/Linux system administration, shell scripting, automation tools, and configuration management systems (Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
e. Experience with Identity Management systems, LDAP directories, Kerberos authentication, and enterprise SSO solutions.
f. Knowledge of Red Hat Satellite architecture, content management, and distributed Capsule server deployment.
g.Ability to take a broad, strategic perspective on Unix infrastructure whilst drilling deep to understand business needs and technical challenges.
h. Ability to analyse and identify comprehensive Unix-based solutions considering all functional implications while developing workable solutions.
i. Results and customer oriented with focus on Unix service delivery excellence.
j. Team player with strong organization and people handling skills in Unix project environments.
k. Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to present Unix technical solutions and influence stakeholders.
l. Relevant Red Hat certifications (RHCSA, RHCE, RHCA) and Unix vendor certifications would be advantageous.
m.    Experience with Unix monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, Red Hat Insights) and Unix troubleshooting methodologies. Understanding ofcontainerisation technologies (Docker, Podman) and orchestration platforms (OpenShift, Kubernetes) in Unix environments.
