Job Description

Job Duties:

  1. Provide L1 operational support for Linux servers (RHEL, Amazon Linux, Ubuntu) in AWS and on-prem environments.

  2. Perform basic monitoring and first-level troubleshooting of AWS services including EC2, EBS, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, and Systems Manager (SSM).

  3. Monitor Linux system performance, availability, disk usage, CPU, memory, and network utilization.

  4. Assist with OS patching activities using AWS Systems Manager, YUM/APT, and predefined patching schedules.

  5. Execute routine operational tasks such as instance start/stop, volume checks, security group verification, and snapshot validation.

  6. Perform basic Linux administration tasks including user management, permissions, services, and log review under guidance.

  7. Handle incidents, service requests, and change tasks using ITSM tools (ServiceNow, Jira) while meeting SLA requirements.

  8. Support backup and restore operations using AWS Backup, EBS snapshots, and filesystem-level tools.

  9. Perform first-level investigation of alerts generated from CloudWatch and monitoring tools, escalating issues when required.

  10. Maintain and update SOPs, runbooks, and ticket documentation with accurate troubleshooting steps and observations

Job Requirements:

  1. Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field.

  2. 1–2 years of experience in Linux system administration or IT infrastructure support.

  3. Basic hands-on experience with AWS cloud services, especially EC2, IAM, S3, and CloudWatch.

  4. Working knowledge of Linux operating systems (RHEL, Amazon Linux, Ubuntu).

  5. Understanding of OS patching concepts and Linux package management tools (YUM, DNF, APT).

  6. Familiarity with basic networking concepts (DNS, TCP/IP, ports, firewalls, security groups).

  7. Experience using ITSM tools and following ITIL-based incident and change management processes.

  8. Basic scripting knowledge using Bash or Shell scripting is an advantage.

  9. Awareness of security best practices, least-privilege access, and basic vulnerability remediation
