Job Description

Role: UAV Systems Test Engineer (SSAT)

🚁 Project Overview

The selected candidate will support the DrN-35DHProject, involving System & Subsystem Acceptance Testing (SSAT) of 35kg Hexacopter Unmanned Aerial (UA) platform. The role includes validation of UAV flight systems, avionics, payloads, and datalink performance across both simulated and real-world environments.

Key Responsibilities

🔹 Test Planning& Traceability

  • Perform requirements traceability across:
  • Operational Requirement Specifications (ORS)
  • Functional Requirement Specifications (FRS)
  • Identify gaps, inconsistencies, and missing requirements
  • Update or develop new test cases where required

🔹 Test Case Development & Management

  • Review existing test cases for completeness and coverage
  • Create and maintain test cases within IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management (ELM)
  • Ensure full traceability between requirements and test artifacts

🔹 Test Execution

  • Execute System & Subsystem Acceptance Testing (SSAT) on:
  • Bench setups (simulated UAV systems)
  • Actual UAV platform
  • Conduct various types of testing:
  • Functional testing
  • Performance testing
  • Failure injection testing
  • Datalink testing

🔹 Subsystem Validation

Test and validate UAV subsystems including:

  • Flight Control Behavior
  • Avionics & Sensor Systems:
  • IMU, Barometer
  • GNSS / RTK
  • LiDAR, Radar
  • Ground Control System (GCS)
  • UAV Datalink
  • Payload systems

🔹 Defect Management

  • Log, track, and report defects using SQN processes
  • Provide detailed defect analysis and reproduction steps
  • Collaborate with engineering teams for resolution

🔹 ContinuousImprovement

  • Update test cases based on execution findings
  • Improve coverage and test efficiency
  • Support regression and re-testing cycles

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of:
  • UAV system architecture
  • Flight control systems
  • Sensors (IMU, GNSS, LiDAR, etc.)
  • Experience with:
  • Test case design and execution
  • Requirements traceability
  • Bench testing / simulation environments

Tools & Technologies

  • Experience with IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management (ELM) or similar ALM tools preferred
  • Familiarity with Ground Control Systems (GCS)
  • Basic knowledge of datalink systems and telemetry

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with:
  • Failure injection testing
  • Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing
