Job Description

About Scholarly At Scholarly, we believe great educators change lives - not just grades. Our mission is to nurture outstanding mentors who inspire academic success and personal growth in every student. Through Scholars Hall, we develop professionally-trained mentors committed to excellence, innovation, and student well-being. The Role We're looking for a warm, energetic English mentor to join our growing team and work with our youngest learners - Primary and Lower Secondary students (ages 7–14). You'll deliver engaging 1:1 English sessions in students' homes, building strong foundations in reading, writing, comprehension, and confidence. This isn't just tutoring. You'll be a consistent, trusted figure in each child's learning journey - someone who makes English exciting, builds real skills, and supports their emotional well-being along the way. This role is ideal if you love working with children, have a gift for making language come alive, and want to grow within a structured, well-supported mentorship programme - with a clear pipeline of students waiting for you. What You'll Do • Deliver exceptional 1:1 English mentoring for Primary and Lower Secondary students (P1–Sec 2), primarily in their homes • Build strong foundations in reading comprehension, creative writing, grammar, vocabulary, and oral communication • Design engaging, age-appropriate sessions that keep young learners motivated and curious • Track each student's progress and adapt your approach to their unique learning style and pace • Create a safe, supportive learning environment where students feel confident to make mistakes and grow • Communicate clearly with parents on progress, milestones, and recommended next steps • Participate in ongoing curriculum training and professional development with the Scholars Hall team Requirements (Must-Have) • Experience working with children aged 7–14 in tutoring, teaching, or a similar educational setting • Strong command of English - grammar, comprehension, writing, and vocabulary • Patient, warm, and genuinely enjoys working with younger children • Creative and resourceful in making lessons engaging and age-appropriate • Excellent communication skills - with both students and parents • Comfortable travelling to students' homes (travel allowance provided) • Comfortable being featured in events and social media as part of representing the programme • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in English, Education, Linguistics, or a related field Preferred (Nice-to-Have) • MOE teaching experience or NIE training • Experience with phonics, guided reading, or structured literacy approaches • Familiarity with the MOE English syllabus (Primary and/or Lower Secondary) • Background in child psychology, early childhood education, or special educational needs • Track record of helping young students build confidence and improve grades consistently • Experience with creative or enrichment-based English programmes Why Join Scholars Hall • Hybrid working arrangements • Competitive base salary + revenue share • Flexible working hours (student sessions + prep/admin blocks) • Medical insurance • Above-average annual leave • Office space available during non-teaching hours • Fully subsidised training to sharpen your teaching craft • A dedicated team that matches you with students - no "find your own students" stress • A long-term career path to becoming a recognised English mentor for young learners in Singapore Apply If you're passionate about helping young minds fall in love with English, we'd love to hear from you. Join Scholars Hall and help shape the next generation of confident, capable learners.
