Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive and hands-on Assistant Finance Manager to oversee financial accounting, reporting, and compliance functions for our Singapore office and joint venture subsidiaries. This role will partner closely with the Senior Finance Manager to ensure the integrity of financial information, strengthen internal controls, and support business decision-making across multiple entities.
The successful candidate will take ownership of the full spectrum of finance operations, provide guidance to junior team members, and drive process improvements. This role requires strong technical expertise, the ability to manage a multi-entity environment, and effective communication with regional stakeholders, including preparation of financial reports in both English and Chinese.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Accounting & Reporting
- Oversee and review full-set accounting for the Singapore entity and assigned joint venture subsidiaries.
- Lead the preparation and timely completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and adherence to reporting timelines.
- Review general ledger entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Drive group consolidation processes, including intercompany reconciliations and eliminations.
- Prepare and present management reports, including variance analysis and key financial insights.
- Ensure high-quality financial reporting in both English and Chinese for regional stakeholders.
2. Accounts Payable & Receivable Oversight
- Oversee AP and AR processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with internal policies.
- Review vendor payments, staff claims, and customer invoicing.
- Monitor cash flow, collections, and aging reports; drive resolution of outstanding balances.
- Strengthen working capital management through proactive AR/AP monitoring.
3.Compliance & Statutory Matters
- Ensure compliance with Singapore Financial Reporting Standards (SFRS) and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee GST filings, corporate tax computations, and related submissions.
- Act as the key liaison with external auditors, tax agents, and corporate secretaries.
- Lead annual statutory audits and ensure timely completion of regulatory filings.
4. Joint Venture & Subsidiary Management
- Monitor financial performance and reporting quality of joint ventures and subsidiaries.
- Review and consolidate financial packs for management, partners, and stakeholders.
- Coordinate reporting timelines and deliverables across multiple entities.
- Ensure robust documentation, governance, and internal controls across entities.
- Support communication and reporting to Chinese-speaking stakeholders.
5. Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and review work of junior finance team members (if applicable).
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operations and business teams to support financial decision-making.
- Partner with regional stakeholders to align reporting requirements and expectations.
6. Process Improvement & Internal Controls
- Drive continuous improvement in accounting processes, systems, and workflows.
- Strengthen internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Lead or support ERP enhancements, automation, and finance transformation initiatives.
- Identify opportunities for efficiency gains and cost optimization.
Requirements
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant accounting/finance experience, preferably in a multi-entity or group environment.
- Prior experience in a supervisory or review capacity is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Singapore GST, tax, and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems is essential.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to read and write Chinese to prepare financial reports and communicate with Chinese-speaking stakeholders.
Professional qualifications (e.g., ACCA, CA, CPA) or progress towards certification is strongly preferred.
