Platform Engineering Manager (SAP / Enterprise Platforms)

Job Description:

• Lead the end-to-end architecture, governance, and operations of enterprise SAP platforms.
• Responsible for managing SAP S/4HANA, BW/4HANA, BTP, and integrated cloud/SaaS environments, while driving platform reliability, security, and automation through modern engineering practices, including AI-driven operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Platform Architecture & Governance:

• Own and manage the end-to-end technical architecture of SAP platforms, including S/4HANA, BW/4HANA on RISE PCE, SAP BTP, and integrated SaaS solutions.
• Define and enforce platform engineering standards, architecture principles, and governance frameworks.
• Act as the Technical Design Authority for SAP and related enterprise platforms.

Platform Operations & Service Management:

• Serve as the primary technical interface with SAP ECS and managed service providers for infrastructure, monitoring, and capacity management.
• Govern AMS providers, ensuring operational excellence, automation adoption, and continuous platform improvement.
• Oversee platform performance, availability, scalability, and lifecycle management.

Security, Identity & Compliance:

• Lead platform security and governance, including role design, access controls, and Segregation of Duties (SoD).
• Manage privileged access using tools such as CyberArk and SAP GRC, ensuring proper workflows and audit trails.
• Integrate SAP platforms with enterprise identity systems (e.g., Azure AD) and SIEM/security monitoring tools.
• Support audit readiness and ensure compliance with internal and regulatory standards.

GenAI & Automation Strategy:

• Define and execute platform automation and AI strategy, leveraging SAP Joule, BTP AI services, and enterprise LLM platforms (e.g., Azure OpenAI).
• Design and implement AI-driven workflows for incident management, system orchestration, and operational efficiency.
• Drive adoption of AIOps/MLOps practices and automation across platform operations

Release & Change Management:

Lead planning and execution of system upgrades, releases, and patches across SAP and related platforms.

• Ensure effective use of non-production environments for testing, validation, and performance assurance.
• Participate in Change Advisory Board (CAB) activities for high-impact changes and platform initiatives.
• Stakeholder & Vendor Collaboration
• Collaborate with internal teams (applications, infrastructure, security, cloud) and external vendors to ensure seamless platform integration and operations.
• Translate enterprise requirements into platform engineering roadmaps and delivery plans.
• Provide clear communication of technical strategies and updates to both technical and business stakeholders.

Requirements:
Experience & Technical Skills:

• Minimum 5+ years of experience in SAP Basis, platform engineering, or technical architecture roles.
• Proven experience in SAP S/4HANA implementation or upgrade projects.
• Strong expertise in SAP HANA administration (backup/restore, performance tuning, HA/DR).
• Experience with managed SAP hosting environments (SAP ECS, hyperscalers such as AWS/Azure).
• Solid understanding of SAP security & GRC (role design, SoD, access control, PAM tools).
• Experience managing large-scale enterprise SAP landscapes and release cycles.

Cloud, AI & Automation:

• Hands-on or practical experience with Generative AI / AI-driven operations.
• Understanding of LLM concepts (prompt engineering, RAG, orchestration, risk management).
• Exposure to SAP BTP AI services or enterprise AI platforms (Azure OpenAI, Google Vertex AI).
• Familiarity with automation, AIOps, or MLOps practices.

Nice-to-Have:

• Hands-on experience with SAP BTP (Integration Suite, API Management, Event Mesh).
• Exposure to SAP SaaS products (e.g., Ariba, SuccessFactors, Concur, SAC).
• Experience integrating SAP platforms with SIEM or enterprise monitoring tools.

Education & Certifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• SAP certifications (S/4HANA, HANA, BTP, or Security) are highly preferred.
• Cloud or AI-related certifications are advantageous.
